The procedures quarterly analyse around 130 pages of social and political processes from a social science and cultural critical perspective. Not only the academic audience, but also a wider readership outside the specialized disciplines should be involved in a sustainable discourse on urgent problems of the time, which can be bundled in to two questions: Where does our society go and where should it go? In doing so, the editorial team strives to critically examine facts and thus contribute to the creation of an alert and sensitized public. By bringing together authors from different areas of work and life, the processes seek to transform well-known issues into new contexts and to promote new social resonances and alliances.

The operations have been published since 1961 and moved to Berlin on January 1, 2001, the fortieth year of their existence.
