The non-profit GmbH OMNIBUS is a developmental and research company on the expanded concept of art. The central field of work in the realization of the conditions for the introduction of the three-stage referendum.

In 1987, the first OMNIBUS, a blue Berlin double-decker bus with a copper crown, took off at documenta 8. It was on the road for seven years and is now stationed in the “field of experience of the senses and thinking” in the park of Schloss Freudenberg in Wiesbaden and inhabited by bee colonies. Since 2001, the white OMNIBUS with a gold-plated brass crown has been traveling throughout Germany for nine months a year, with a specific proposal for the national referendum in its luggage (trunk?). In addition to this ongoing discussion, the company has initiated and supported referendums in several states with which the local direct democracy regulations have been become more user-friendly. Through such actions, democracy has grown sustainably from before. But there is still a lack of voting rights at the federal and European level. At the moment the action www.ich-will-abstimmen.de is advocating for the introduction of the nationwide referendum. Through all of its work, OMNIBUS attempts to show that the referendum is a means for which we, as sovereigns, can take responsibility. In particular, the money must be democratically redefined in this way.
