In 1990, environmentalists founded the GREEN LEAGUE, which has its roots in church environmental and peace groups, urban ecology groups, as well as many of the DDR’s (German Democratic Republic) local nature and conservation environmental initiatives. The GREEN LEAGUE is a network of ecological movements and brings together groups, initiatives and individuals who work together in many ways to protect the environment.
Under the motto “to have visions – to network – to simulate action,” The GREEN LEAGUE works with a multitude of themes, for example, Alliance “Rail for all”, waste and traffic prevention, resistance to lignite mines, nature and species protection or environmental education. Since January 1990, the Federal Office of the GRREN LEAGUE has had a place in the House of Democracy. The editorial offices of the newspaper “Alligator” and the Federal Contact Water are also housed here.
Currently, we organize annual River Film Festivals in several cities participate in the evaluation of the European Water Framework Directive.
