The Human Rights Forum is a network of 50 German non-governmental organizations (NGOs) who are committed to improved, comprehensive human rights protection – worldwide, in specific regions, countries and in Germany. The forum was founded in 1994 at the Vienna Worldwide Human Rights Conference.

Our goals:

  • To critically participate in the human rights policy of the Federal Government and of the German federal parliament at the national and international level.

  • To undertake join projects to improve human rights protection worldwide.

  • To raise awareness about human rights issues in the German public, to point out possible human rights violations in Germany and to work towards a solution.

  • To share information about human rights relevant themes to the member organizations.

  • To support local, regional and national NGOs in the international aspects of their work and to promote the international networking of NGOs.

Within the Forum are various working groups that are responsible for the preparation of collective Statements as well as materials, actions, public events and expert discussions. The Human Right Forum works together closely with NGOs at the European and international level.
