“Hope through action” – this is the motto that was founded in Mainz on March 31st, 1982 and was recognized as a non-profit German Environmental Foundation. The German Environmental Foundation is politically and economically independent. 1,743 Foundations and Benefactors currently stand behind the German Environmental Foundation. Thus, according to the number of Benefactors, it is the largest and oldest German community foundation.
