Neither private entities nor the market should control our water – No “EU cross-border water infrastructure” with private investors!
For a long time, water privatization seemed to be off the agenda following the negative experiences with Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and the success of the EU citizens' initiative Right2Water. However, the EU has now announced, both in its Strategic Agenda for 2024–2029 and through the President of the European Commission, the creation of a European long-distance water network with private investments, once again posing the risk of immediate privatization.
